EDDIE HOPPER -pass it on (part 1) lp

Eddie Hooper
Pass It On (Part 1)

Soundway have long been purveyors of releasing the finest music never heard from countries across Africa and Latin America. As specialists in discovering the funkiest, retro obscurities that without intervention would have been left in permanent hibernation, Soundway can announce their first 12” single in over 2 1/2 years!

This release comes from the Guyanese singer Eddie Hooper, famous in the large part for his soca recordings. However, it is the disco spectrum that Hooper transcends in this double header that has ‘end of the night’ written all over it.Recorded in 1980, Hooper delivers some of the most life-affirming and spaced out disco soul you’re likely ever hear integrating Rhodes keys, orchestrations, the odd early keyboard synth and vocals that permeate the tracks and aptly spell out how to ‘set your spirit free’.

Soundway’s recent releases such as Ghana Special, Palenque Palenque and The World Ends have been garnering a heap of praise from the some of the most unlikely sources. Having just been voted been one of the top 5 record labels by Womex in 2010, Soundway continue to raise the bar, documented by recent 9/10 reviews in US based Spin Magazine & Pitchfork, feature articles in an array of UK publications from DJ Magazine to The Guardian -even French actress and beauty Marrion Cottilard was caught clutching her copy of Nigeria Special in a recent edition of Vanity Fair.

The vinyl comes as a 180 gram vinyl and everyone who orders it from the Soundway store will receive a free download of the single.
