THE MOD CULTURE : Legendary Rockin' R&B compilation
Compiled by dj's Keb Darge and Little Edith, BBE is releasing what is said to be the first in a 'series', setting out to put a spotlight on lesser known R&B music from the 50s and 60s. As it has been already said elsewhere on the internet, many of these tunes are well known if you've been to for example UK clubs like the Hideaway, Lady Luck or Jukebox Jam. Or indeed if you have heard the Stompin' compilations.
Regardless of the debate around the press release that says that "Keb Darge is always ahead of the curve of the tastemakers in this growing 'new' scene'", the compilation Legendary Rockin' R&B contains good tunes. Some of them have been on YouTube for a while, have a listen on there.
Available on CD, double vinyl and as a digital download from 28th August 2010.
